Adaptive yoga classes are for people living with mobility disabilities, such as but not limited to partial paralysis, amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, visual impairment.

Classical yoga postures are adapted with the use of props and assistants to the needs of students living with a disability to provide the experience of the pose, whatever the level of the participant, and to deepen the body-mind awareness.

Deepening the mind-body awareness can lead to a greater sense of freedom and ease in everyday activities for someone living with a disability. Here are some of the benefits that can result from an Adaptive Yoga practice:

  • Greater strength, balance and mobility on a physical and mental level

  • The ability to move through everyday life with more physical efficiency

  • Better management of chronic pain and repetitive strain injury caused by the use of a wheelchair or partial paralysis

  • Better management of stress, anxiety and depression

Our classes provide a deepened sense of connection with others, and a safe environment in which to nurture each individual, socialise and have fun.

The Adaptive Yoga classes are based on the "Opening Yoga to Everyone" approach as taught by Matthew Sanford and the Mind Body Solutions team, the leading voice in Adaptive Yoga worldwide. I have had the pleasure and privilege of working directly with Matthew Sanford since 2011 and feel blessed to be one of his humble students.

Currently no group class.
